pdf stands for portable document format and is a way of ensuring a correctly formatted document which does not depend on the software used to create it or the software used by the person wanting the document.
If you do not have software to download and print a pdf file
you can click on the icon to download a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 free
-
please be aware that the download is approx 27Mb . An alternative is to get
a cover CD from a computer magazine most of which have a copy of Acrobat
reader on but this may be a slightly older version. (I've got
several spare copies if necessary - Alan).
When you have the Acrobat reader and want to print or download from the Northern site
If you click on the link with the left mouse button the
Acrobat reader will start and you can print the form but it will not be
saved to your computer.
Use the printer icon at the top left of the Adobe reader menu not the
printer icon on the Internet Explorer menus.
If you click on the link with the right mouse button and
choose "save target as" the
save file dialogue will start and you will be given a choice of where to
save the file on your computer.
After saving the file you can either start Acrobat reader and open the file
or double click on the file in Windows Explorer.
