Wetherby Petanque Club - a member of Northern Petanque

Playing strength

The club is quite small (about 30 members) but our playing strength is matched by only Mistral PC and Bridlington PC in the north of England.

Despite the strong competitive element for some players new players including total novices are always welcome.

Recently the club has been very successful with the 1st team winning the York & District league in 1999, 2000, 2001 & 2002. The run came to an end in 2003 when the 1st team finished second in the league. The 2nd place was repeated in 2004. The 1st team were back to winning ways in 2006 which has continued every year since.

A club team also won the inaugural Wigginton team event in 1999 and again in 2001 and 2003 (with 2 players from Mistral in the team that year)

Club players also regularly feature strongly in Northern tournaments.
