The history of tournaments held at Wetherby PC is listed below

2007

On 5/8/07 20 pairs played in the clubs 4th open pairs.
The Winners were Ted Beetham (Mistral) & Pat Rowlands (Doncaster).
The runners up were Roger & Sue Nunns (Wetherby).

On 13/5/07 14 teams took part in the club's 4th open triples event.
The winners were Sam & Marilyn Chase (Wetherby) & Tony Costello (Doncaster). The runners up (2 of them for the 2nd year running) were Pat Rowlands and Ray & Nicola Gatenby (Doncaster).

On 6/8/06 21 pairs played in the clubs 4th open pairs.
Dan Rice (Doncaster) was again the winner but this time with his father Steve Rice.
The runners up were Luke Howard and Richard Marston (both Mistral).

On 4/6/06 16 teams took part in the club's third open triples event.
The winners were Luke Howard (Mistral) , Lisa Hoy (Wigginton) and Richard Marston (Mistral). The runners up were Pat Rowlands and Ray & Debbie Gatenby (Doncaster).

On 31/7/05 11 teams took part in the club's second open triples event.
The winners were James Hart (Mistral) , Lisa Hoy (Wigginton) and Hassan Suleiman (Brandesburton). The runners up were Alan & Sue Swift (Wetherby) & Dave Hodgson (Saddle).

On 8/5/05 the open pairs was held for the 3rd time and attracted an entry of 15 pairs despite several teams taking part in a Grand Prix on the same day.
The winners were Brian Kirby (Lincoln) and Dan Rice (Doncaster). The runners up were Ted Beetham (Mistral) & Dave Hodgson (The Saddle).
Special mention goes to Norman and Marjorie Hagyard (The Fox) who were 10-2 up against the eventual winners but were badly affected by a heavy rain shower.

2004
On 25/7/04 11 teams took part in the club's inaugural open triples event (which will be held annually).
The winners were Guy Petit (Wetherby), Tony Wignall (The Fox) & Patrick Wichert (Unattached). The runners up were John Stockton(Wetherby), Chris Baxter (Morecambe Bay) & Tony Costello (Brandesburton).

On 22/8/04 the open pairs was held for the 2nd time and attracted a maximum entry of 24 pairs.
The winners were Sam & Marilyn Chase (Wetherby). The runners up were Lee Edgar (The Fox) & Hassan Suleiman (Brandesburton).
With the entry being so large "B" and "C" events were held for teams failing to qualify for the main event.
The "B" event was won by Alan & Sue Swift (Wetherby). The "C" event was won by John & Jenny Stockton (Wetherby).

The club hosted a Yorkshire Winter Pairs event on 12/12/04 and will probably host 2 Winter Pairs events in future years.

The club also hosted the Yorkshire vs Leicestershire annual county match which was won by Leicestershire by 26 to 22
and one of the three events to decide the squad to represent Northern Petanque at the Inter Regional Championships.

2003
Following the completion of the terrain extension on 1/8/03 the club held 2 tournaments in August.

On 17/8/03 the club's inaugural open pairs event (which will be held annually) saw 20 pairs from across the North of England take part.
The winners were Steven Meadowcroft (Huntington) and Trevor Inman (The Fox) who beat Pat & Pete Rowlands (Doncaster) in the final.

On 30/8/03 the club held a Pro-Am event to give novices a chance to try the game.
The entry was disappointing possibly due to holidays but the 18 players who took part had an enjoyable and instructive afternoon.
Teams were drawn randomly for each round but with an experienced player in each triple.
The most successful experienced player was John Stockton and the most successful novice was Lynn Henry who won all her games despite this being her first taste of tournament play.
